Default Storing Vintage Wines

What is the best way to store older wines? What temperature should reds and whites be kept at?

Mandiees,

First, I don't collect wines, I just drink them.

But there are general guidelines. Red wines are richer and can be kept at 55 degrees. White wines should be kept in a cooler environment around 48-52 degrees.

It also depends on the properties of the individual wine.

I bought a boxed wine recenly and I really like it. It can be stored longer than wine in a bottle. It just tastes the same and is easy to carry, moreover, it looks elegant in an eco-friendly package and costs less.

Hi mandiees,

Besides the temperature, I have one more tip for storing wine. It is better to put it side up than upright. If they are stored upright for a long amount of time, the corks will dry out, and air will eventually get to the wine, spoiling it. If you store it label side up, it'll be easier to spot any sediments that may have formed in the wine over time when you do eventually pick it up.
